Parkinsons Disease

Parts of your brain degrade with Parkinson's disease, an age-related degenerative brain disorder. It is most famous for producing tremors, delayed movements, balance issues, and other symptoms. Parkinson's disease is described as kampavata, a state of Vata aggravation in Ayurveda. In addition to genetic predisposition, the disorder is brought on by factors that let specific brain networks to become dysregulated. According to Ayurveda, the Vatadosha is typified by inflexibility, wear-down (roughness), degeneration, and dryness. This internal degradation shows up as external dysregulation, as evidenced by increased movement, tremors, lack of sleep, and other symptoms of the Air element's overactivity. The goal of Ayurveda Parkinson's disease treatment is to address the underlying cause of the illness.

CAUSES:

Neurones, which are brain nerve cells, gradually degenerate or die in Parkinson's disease. A loss of neurones that generate a chemical message in the brain is the source of many symptoms of Parkinson's disease. We refer to this messenger as dopamine. Unusual brain activity is caused by a decrease in dopamine. Movement issues and other Parkinson's disease symptoms result from this. Norepinephrine, a chemical messenger that regulates numerous bodily processes, including blood pressure, is also lost in people with Parkinson's disease. Certain genes which run in the family, environmental factors are also found to be responsible for the onset of parkinsonism.

PARKINSON’S DISEASE AND AYURVEDA APPROACH:

In Ayurveda, a condition called Kampavata is associated with Parkinson's disease. Because it results in widespread involuntary movements or tremors in every part of the body, it is often referred to as “Kampa”. Since Vata vitiation is the source of kampavata, the treatment principle mainly focuses on getting back the normalcy in vata dosha in the body. Ayurveda provides a wide approach in the treatment of kampavata. Which includes Snehana therapy: internal use of medicated ghee and external use of medicated oils. Swedana therapy: sudation therapy including the nadi sweda method. The Panchakarma therapy: body purification. The Tripura purification approach- a unique approach at Prasadini which aims at holistic well being of an individual. Shamana Chikitsa (Palliative Treatment): it includes the use of herbal or herbo-mineral formulations internally. Medhya rasayana (Rejuvenative therapy)- use of special herbal preparations that act as brain tonic and Diet & lifestyle counselling.

The Ayurvedic management of Kampavata emphasizes a holistic approach that targets the root cause-vitiated Vata dosha. Through a combination of Panchakarma therapies, Vata-pacifying medications, nourishing Rasayana herbs, and supportive diet and lifestyle modifications. Ayurveda aims to restore balance and improve the quality of life. Treatments such as Basti, Abhyanga, and the use of Medhya Rasayanas, not only alleviate symptoms like tremors and rigidity but also strengthen the nervous system. Early diagnosis, regular treatment, and individualized care form the cornerstone of effective Kampavata management in Ayurveda at Prasadini Ayurnikethana Ayurveda Hospital.
